My Apologies
I made a generalization that I shouldn't have. It was brought to my attention by The Queen and I find that an apology is due. I am sorry for not stating the other side of homeschooling. I do know people who homeschool who do a very good job of it. There are those that homeschool who involve their children with other homeschoolers for sports or other socialization, T-ball, Little League, there are many things that a homeschooler can do so that they are not sequestered from society. Those people I hold in high regard. It takes a lot to homeschool your child. Lots of dedication and patience. I had considered it but I was not sure of myself so I choose to go with public schools. I was afraid of not being able to teach him to read properly. A very important thing, lol, and too important for me to play around with and then decide I couldn't do it. So, I firmly believe in homeschooling. It is a positive thing. Liz's parents and ones like them, and there are others like them, should never be allowed to homeschool. I hope that the authorities do step in and that Liz and her siblings are put in public school. I hope that the parents did well at their teaching responsibilites. They live in New York, I have never met them. Anyway, once again, my apologies for lumping all homeschoolers together in my previous post.

Later. God bless. Spyder.

Teressa, I don't think anyone could ever take offense to anything you say...the people who know you know how wonderful you really are. I considered home schooling our kids as well since I hate the schools here and other people keep telling us "home school them" like it's just THAT easy. I still have to work and I barely have the patience to get through their homework with them so I'm doing them a favor by NOT home schooling. :)

Home schooling is something I could never have the patience to do. My kids would be illiterate for sure. I guess some people can do a great job of home schooling and others can't. It takes the wisdom to know the difference. Glad they found your cousin. I hope everything works out for her.

You didn't offend me:-) I understand that there are people out there that shouldn't be having kids let alone be educating them!!

Great post, and I agree 100% with you. I think many people, and perhaps most, are making a mistake home schooling. I agree, there are many who do an excellent job, but many who don't. Personally, I find the education the kids receive outside the classroom to be just as important. Not the smoking in the restrooms or getting high in the parking lot. But knowing how to get along with others, handling different authority figures, and being exposed to a diverse group of people.

This being said, I know there are reasons for home schooling, and parents who do it very well.

I always admire someone who has the courage to apologize if they may have offended someone. That takes integrity.
I've seen both good & bad homeschooling. I guess we expect the good, know what I mean? The bad comes when too much power is put in the hands of parents with bad intentions.
I hope those children get help somehow.
