3.28.5 cont.
Pregnant??!! So I left there and went to the farm. I went to the house first not knowing where Gary was. His mother was there and she looked at me and knew but asked anyway. I said yes. She turned white. She proceeded to tell me that she thought I would be better off raising the child on my own because she didn''t think that Gary would be able to work and support a family. I was shocked that that was the first thing she said to me. I kept my mouth shut about it and just asked where Gary was. He was fixing fence on a piece of the property. I went over to where he was, I had purchased a cigar in town on my way out, and I got out of the car and held it out to him. He just went limp over the fence, lmbo. After collecting himself he came over to me and just held me. We then began talking. This would push the wedding date forward and was going to change our lives dramatically. We made an appointment with a ob/gyn because 1) I still thought they could be wrong. 2) I would need one if they were right, lol. I actually thought that I would go to that appointment and them tell me that I had a tumor. Well they did an ultrasound and sure enough I was pregnant. I was so sick with the pregnancy. I had a problem with getting out of bed because I was so sick. I kept thinking something is wrong. It seemed that I would get more sick after I took the prenatal vitamins, I mentioned it to the doctor and he told me it was not possible for the vitamins to make me sick. I was also having problems with my blood pressure going up but when I would go into his office it would be O.K. and so no treatment. In my fifth month and tired of getting nowhere with this doctor and knowing that I needed different care I switched doctors. I was so lucky to find another ob/gyn at that stage of my pregnancy, but find one I did. He took me off the vitamins and put me on blood pressure medication and I could finally get out of bed and function. I was so huge too. I had been given a sugar tolerance test at the other doctors, and then the new did another, then another, then ultra sound after ultrasound, the baby was so big that they kept thinking I had to have gestational diabetes. Nothing showed.
During the beginning of this time, going back to when I found out I was pregnant and the days following personally. I knew that I would not raise a baby in a household where pot was used and that alcohol was a staple. I put my foot down one evening on the porch of Gary''s parents house with them inside listening to me rant at him, lmbo, boy did they dislike me! I told him that he had to quit it all and that he had to get a job and punch a time clock for at least 40 hours a week. No more working on the farm for no wages and no more depending on his parents. I told him I WOULD raise the child on my own, I WOULD NOT raise my child and him. It worked. Gary choose my way. His mother and father tried their best to change his mind. See he was free labor in running their farm while his dad spent almost all his time in Arizona running another farm. Their lives were going to change too and they were not liking it. Gary and I went and filed for our marriage license. His parents had plans to leave for Arizona on the 28th of October and we were waiting for them to leave to get married. We did not want them around. So, on October 28th, 1991, after seeing them off, we went to the court house. Got the judges secretary, whom I knew, and they got an older gentleman from the hall way to serve as witness''s and we were married.
